We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Accounting & Finance team in our Syracuse office to assist with special projects and joint venture opportunities. The ideal candidate will play a key role in managing financial and business operations, ensuring compliance, and developing future project proformas.
Financial Management responsibilities will include:
- Invoicing: Prepare and issue invoices to customers from receiving and operations reports;
- Accounts Receivable: Monitor and manage accounts receivable to ensure timely collection of payments;
- Accounts Payable: Process vendor invoices and manage outgoing payments;
- Payroll: Oversee payroll processing, ensuring accurate and timely payment to employees, as well as Federal and state reporting and compliance.
Accounting duties will include:
- General Ledger Maintenance: Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger entries;
- Project and Construction Accounting: Track project costs, budgets, and financial reporting for construction projects related to biochar facilities;
- Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for management.
Compliance and Auditing duties will include:
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards relevant to the organics management industry;
- Audit Support: Assist with external audits and required lender reporting, providing necessary documentation and explanations as required.
Process Improvement duties will include:
- Financial Processes: Evaluate and improve financial processes for efficiency and accuracy;
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts for future projects.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA or CMA certification is preferred.
- 3 to 5+ years of relevant accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Acumatica, Vantagepoint) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Estimated Pay Range: $36-40/hour
Actual compensation may vary based on related work experience, geographical location and market conditions, education/training, certifications, and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills.
